Stomach Sleeper

Proof that Mason is in fact Chris's son . . . .

Mason has decided his tummy is an ok place to be, but only when he's sleeping. I found him this way last week one morning. He normally screams like he's being beat when we give him tummy time, so this was unusual to say the least. But, Chris only sleeps on his stomach, so he must have learned it from his dad, cause it certainly wasn't me! The night I had Mason was the first night in 9 months I got to sleep on my back, and I tell you, it was pure heaven!!

Brusha Brusha Brusha

Now that Mason has teeth (still just the 2 bottom middle ones) we have to brush them after his last bottle for the night. He loves to watch the water run down the drain, and even seems to somewhat enjoy the soft bristles on his gums. I wonder if it will be easier, or harder, when he has a mouth full of teeth we have to brush??

Ten Months Old

My sweet adorable baby is 10 months old today. How can that be?? I have two good friends, with baby's just a little older that Mason. One little girl turned 1 last week, and the other will turn one when we are in Montana. Being at Grace's party made me wonder what Mason's birthday party will be like.

He's standing a ton these days - actually he prefers to stand over sitting. He could spend hours in front of the coffee table, playing with whatever's been left on top. He walks if you hold his arms good, and even tries to take a few side ways steps along the coffee table's edge. He still has just the bottom 2 teeth. I keep waiting.
We've also been trying to work on getting more table food into his diet. He's weened himself off formula quite a bit, so it's a challenge trying to get calories in him. We had dinner the other night at Sweet Tomatoes, which was perfect, cause he could try all kinds of things from the salad bar without our having to commit to a bunch of it. He loved beets! My kid, totally!!
Happy birthday my son, momma loves you.

Took a Trip to the Park

Mason's day care was closed on Monday, so I took Mason into work with me, showed him off for a bit, and then came home and worked. Mason took an amazing 3+ hour nap which let me get everything done that I needed to. So, to reward him, I loaded him up in the stroller and we took a walk to the park and played for a bit. He sure loves to watch the world go by while swinging from a swing! I need to look into one that I could tie to the apple tree out back. I bet he'd love it. I loved spending a little extra quality time with my son.

Feet at The Head of the Bed

When I went in to get Mason the other morning, he had himself completely flipped around in bed. He laughed and laughed and thought that he was just funny as heck!

Count Down to Vacation

I keep telling Mason that we're going on a very long car ride, and we're going to see Grandma and Grandpa. He doesn't seem nearly as excited as I am about it. I miss my parents terribly. There's just something that makes it even harder to live 1,000 miles away from family now that we have Mason. I think about all of the things he does every single day that they are missing. He changes so much in 4 weeks time that I hardly recognize older photos of him. I look back to photos when he was first born and I remember how cute I thought he was, and now to look at them, I hardly recognize my son in the camera. A month or so ago, I'd had a long talk with Chris about whether or not we could live in Montana. Turns out that exact same night, my mother was in her garden, having a very long talk with herself about whether or not she could live in Denver.

Happy 4th of July

We spent the long 4th of July weekend close to home. Mason's not really old enough to stay awake for, or really even appreciate the fireworks. Maybe next year. Today we packed a picnic lunch (our first) and headed to Wash Park for the afternoon. I loved laying in the shade of a giant tree, next to the water, with my 2 favorite boys. Mason liked the ducks, and of course, I loved watching them bob up and down for whatever treats were down below. On the way home, we stopped at The Pajama Baking Company and I treated myself to some of their home made strawberry ice cream, and Chris and I each got a cupcake for later. It's the 4th of July - if that doesn't call for ice cream, well, I don't know what does.
To all of the men and women who have served and are serving today - our thanks for your many brave sacrifices.
