Surgery Was a Success

We checked in on Monday at 7:30 am. Mason wasn't terribly thrilled when we kept his pj's on and got in the car. I am sure he wondered where breakfast was. We got all checked in back in pre-op and watched some cartoons and wandered the halls. All of the nurses kept saying how cute he looked, walking up and down the halls in his hospital gown. The urologist ran almost 1 1/2 hours behind, which made for a very long morning. Mason was restless and hungry and tired of being contained to 1 single room.
They let us go back when he was put under. It was really hard, watching him fight the gas and then he just went all limp. It's hard to be a brave parent, when you are so scared yourself. We waiting in the lobby for about 45 minutes and then the doctor came out and told us that everything had gone just fine and that he was happy with the results. Even made a smart ass comment about Mason getting a standing ovation in college!
He was beyond miserable in the recovery room until they said it was ok to give him some food. He ate a banana and a yogurt and some raspberries and same apple juice and a cracker. I told everyone he'd be so famished he'd eat my shoe. No one believed me. Mason does not like to miss a meal!
We've been home for a few days now and he seems to be tolerating the pain with just Motrin which is good. I save the codine for night time so he'll get some good rest. He had his first bath this morning since the operation. And now we have to give him 3 -4 a day for 14 days. So much for momma being on vacation!!
Thanks for all of the well wishes and positive prayers. He did just fine and now we're just working on getting him better.

Roseola

Last Sunday, Mason had a killer fever of 104.5. I assumed he was getting a tooth, since that's typical for him. High fever, and really no other symptoms. I could see 2 trying to poke through, so we just gave him lots of Tylenol and TLC. Well, by Tuesday afternoon, he'd been banned from daycare because of his fever. Chris stayed home on Wednesday and took him to the pediatrician. I guess the rash showed up after I left for work that morning. Poor kid!!

Under The Knife

Mason goes under the knife on Monday. The mere thought of this is enough to make me want to pour a large glass of wine, stick my fingers in my ears, and yell "nana nana nana, I can't hear you". Unfortunately, I have to be the adult here, which really sucks.

Mason's pediatrician referred us to a Urologist, for his botched circumcision. It wasn't done very well (sorry Dr. Logan) and has to be re-done for a variety of medical reasons that all leave my head swimming.
We check in Monday morning at 7:30. Mason can't have had breakfast, or milk, or even water before we arrive. I don't plan to tell him that he's being starved until the last possible second, because the shit is seriously going to hit the fan. The kid loves breakfast!! Anyway, we check in at 7:30. Surgery is at 9:15. They tell us to plan an hour. And then we'll have 2+ hours in recovery before we can go home. It's going to be a very, very long day.
Do you think they'll notice if there's a little Baileys in my coffee that morning??
We will all take whatever good vibes, juju, prayers, anything you got, we'll take em Monday morning. I know he's going to be fine. But the idea of them knocking him out for this is, well, it's enough to make my skin crawl. Ugh.

Two Hundredth Post

This is where Mason spends the weekends. He walks back and forth, taking his toys (generally one by one) over to the table so that he can play with them up high. I thought we had that table for the lamp. Guess I was wrong!!
