We checked in on Monday at 7:30 am. Mason wasn't terribly thrilled when we kept his pj's on and got in the car. I am sure he wondered where breakfast was. We got all checked in back in pre-op and watched some cartoons and wandered the halls. All of the nurses kept saying how cute he looked, walking up and down the halls in his hospital gown. The urologist ran almost 1 1/2 hours behind, which made for a very long morning. Mason was restless and hungry and tired of being contained to 1 single room.
They let us go back when he was put under. It was really hard, watching him fight the gas and then he just went all limp. It's hard to be a brave parent, when you are so scared yourself. We waiting in the lobby for about 45 minutes and then the doctor came out and told us that everything had gone just fine and that he was happy with the results. Even made a smart ass comment about Mason getting a standing ovation in college!
He was beyond miserable in the recovery room until they said it was ok to give him some food. He ate a banana and a yogurt and some raspberries and same apple juice and a cracker. I told everyone he'd be so famished he'd eat my shoe. No one believed me. Mason does not like to miss a meal!
We've been home for a few days now and he seems to be tolerating the pain with just Motrin which is good. I save the codine for night time so he'll get some good rest. He had his first bath this morning since the operation. And now we have to give him 3 -4 a day for 14 days. So much for momma being on vacation!!
Thanks for all of the well wishes and positive prayers. He did just fine and now we're just working on getting him better.
