Total Troublemaker

I couldn't believe I only had 1 blog post for January. But then I remembered that I have a full fledged toddler on my hands who is into everything!

His favorite activities include taking the silverware from the dishwasher when we are washing dishes, and locking the wheel locks on his high chair. I am many things, and OCD is one of them. Mason can not pass by his high chair and keep walking if the locks are up (meaning unlocked). He MUST stop whatever he is doing and flip them down (locked) before he can continue on his way of house wrecking. Do you think OCD is really a genetic thing?? Ask Chris, I am pretty sure he'd tell you it is.
February is fast approaching. Which means March is right around the corner, and Chris will go back to 6 day work weeks for a few months. At first, it's nice to have Mason all to myself. We can cuddle (not that he lets me) and play and run errands and do whatever we want. But, the novelty quickly wears off and I find myself wishing Chris were home to help.

Welcome 2011

Chris and I rung in the New Year after Mason was down for the night. For dinner, I attempted Sweedish Meatballs. They were ok, but not really very Sweedish. I'll make spaghetti and meatballs with them this week to use them up. For dessert, Chris and I indulged in Venetian Fondue with all the dippings. I think we ate enough chocolate to count as dessert for a month, or more!!

Mason has really been discovering all of the cabinets, and what's contained in them, in the kitchen. Santa brought him some fridge magnets, which he pretty much proceeded to just pick from the fridge door and through onto the floor, so they went to live in the basement for a while. Maybe when he's 2 they can come back out. Santa brought them because Mom wanted to get him a little more involved in what goes in the kitchen. Seems he didn't need fridge magnets to cause trouble in there after all.

For 2011, I am hoping to get better at budgeting our money, I am trying to be conscience to be a better wife in the every day categories, and I am hoping to TTC #2.

I will stick to my weight loss and fitness goals and maybe even see size 8 capris in time for summer. Wouldn't that be something?!? Down from a, gasp, dare I say it, 20!!

Christmas Day

Mason slept in a little on Christmas morning, which allowed me a few minutes to get breakfast going. We had big pancake, a family tradition for years and years, and some cantaloupe. I swear, that kid loves fruit - he's just like his momma.

After dishes were done, we finally let Mason see the living room, over flowing with presents. He ran straight to the tree! We unwrapped a few things before he'd really had too much excitement and needed to go take a nap. And then Chris and I finished opening things up and putting them away. Most of the rest of the day was spent with Mason checking out his new toys. He has a few favorites, that's for sure. Dinner was Clam Chowder, another family tradition. I loved it. Reminded me of my grandmother, who I miss extra at the holidays.

Christmas Eve

had some friends over for dinner Christmas Eve and after they left, and Mason was down for the night, we got the house ready for Santa. No milk and cookies this year - maybe next year Mason will be old enough to want to leave something out.
I think Mason was thoroughly spoiled - what do you think??

15 Month Stats

Mason's 15 month dr appointment was Friday. We raced from daycare to the appointment. Overall the doctor was happy with things. His walking is practically perfect. The only time he really falls is when he's being chased. And then, I think it's about being gotten and tickled! We have some problem solving stuff to work on. He doesn't stack things one on top of the other. In fact, if we stack something, he just knocks it all down. So, we will work on that. And some coloring and other art projects. Good thing some new stuff is wrapped from Santa and Grandma and everyone else. He was in the 20% for height. Seems that one waivers back and forth between 25% and 50%. But, he dropped in weight from the 8% down to the 5%. I can't believe it, since the kid eats from sun up to sun down. But, that's what his chart said. I don't really know what more to feed him. He eats breakfast, then a snack, then lunch, then a snack, and then dinner. I guess maybe I could encourage Chris to share his dessert more frequently??
From there, we raced to the urologist, who signed off and released Mason. YAY!! He was really happy with how everything turned out and said we should be good to go. So that's good.
I can't believe Christmas is less than a week away! Where does the time go? And what will Mason look at after the tree and lights have all come down in January? Maybe we can be complete white trash and leave the lights up year round?? I know Mason would sure love it!

Christmas Tree

For the first time in what I believe would have been my entire life, I was about to have a Christmas without a Tree. With Mason being on the move and into everything, I just thought it would be a bad idea. But, last Thursday, Chris' shop was closed and he stayed home with Mason. Seems the boys decided momma needed a tree after all. Aww!! It's all decorated and I love it. Every night after dinner, Mason stands at the top of the stairs waiting (rather impatiently) for someone to bring him down so he can look. He's learned to say "pretty" and he loves all of the lights and decorations. He about breaks my heart every time he gets so excited to see the pretty lights. Thanks honey, for the tree - it's perfect!

Santa Clause

For the last two years in a row, we've taken Mason out to Tagawa, a nursery down south of us, to see Santa, and his reindeer. This year was no exception. I was a little worried that he would scream and cry and hate it, but, he actually did really well. It's a long wait, which is hard, but he enjoyed seeing all of the decorations and other kids.

Mason's wish for Christmas this year? He said he wants all of his family and friends to have a blessed holiday.
